About the host:
In Dehradun the event is led by Er. Anant Bhaskar Garg and Dr. Manisha Agarwal, HRDEF’s Director for the first time. Both of them previously worked in higher education, research and now developing models, hands-on, games for interactive, experiential learning.
They are motivating future’s generation as change makers using technology, design thinking integrating with sustainable development, SDGs issues.
About the event:
GCD 2019 held in the Dehradun at the HRDEF’s campus. Students from diverse background participated and learned about design and do-it-yourself methodology. The event main focus was on zero hunger, climate action, food wastage, land use (SDG 2, 3, 12, 13, 15). Students developed various prototypes with creativity, innovation from support of facilitators, mentors. They presented their work with joy and insight.
VW - Vertical Wall
Smart use of space in a region with hills, by using vertical wall of the main house for land optimization and food self-sufficiency.
EET - Energy Efficient Transport
Renewable-energy based food transportation using solar panels and biodiesel to reduce carbon emission and food wastage.
RTG – Rooftop Garden
By using this rooftop garden, there is less land required for growing food, and the waste from kitchen’s in the house can be used for compost.
