About the host:
Laurence and Alienor are both socio-anthropologists. Alienor is a university teacher and uses active pedagogy daily to transmit her passion for anthropology to her students. Laurence heads an innovation and transformation lab and co-leads the qualitative studies department at an opinion and market research institute. Together, they founded eutopique, a non-profit organization with the deep motivation to develop new ways of learning and to make children and other people involved in education (parents, teachers) active and engaged in their learning.
They use co-design in particular through anthropo’kids workshops where children learn to investigate and deconstruct stereotypes and collective intelligence to find solutions following the observation.
Eutopique acts mainly locally in the territories and with public schools.
About the event:
We prepared the event with a class of children from a public school with whom we carried out anthropo'kids workshops and a dozen children from other schools and neighborhoods also participated.
For our first Global Children’s Designathon in France, we were warmly welcomed by the CRI, a symbolically important place to host this type of event totally in line with the philosophy of the place.
CRI, founded by researchers specializing in evolutionary dynamics and systems engineering, brings together very diverse audiences throughout the world to design and prototype new learning ecosystems and new exponential dynamics in order to mobilize collective intelligence and thus accelerate our ability to meet the SDGs.
The sample of about forty children ranged from 7 to 13 years old, and was mixed in terms of social class and backgrounds. A graphic facilitator accompanied the day and three teenagers helped the youngest to prototype
All participants (children, teens, experts, parents, team of facilitators) were delighted with the event and the power of collective intelligence to prototype solutions to complex problems.
Stop Food Waste!
Through this app, people can order food. The app asks for information when ordering to determine the right amount of food depending on the menu: number of people, children or adults, big or small appetite.
Conservation sheet & bar
The conservation sheet allows food to be stored and transported without damaging it. The food is recycled to fuel vehicles (biogas) and to form roads (compost road). The free bar is a place for everyone to share good meals. Rich people bring in leftovers. Meals are shared between the richest and the most disadvantaged in this bar where there is no longer any difference between rich and poor.
Ultrasonic nets & Shared food truck
This team invented plastic waste nets that protect fish: Boats throw ultrasonic nets so that fish are not caught by the net, but it does catch the waste and plastic pollution. They also thought of a shared food truck: a nomadic food truck (like the free nomad library) where people can drop off excess food rather than throw it away and where the poorest can come freely to get food to eat.
